Worldwide spending on Internet advertising was $14.6 billion in the third quarter, down 1 percent from the same quarter a year ago, according to a report from IDC, a market intelligence firm headquartered in Framingham.
US spending on Internet advertising, meanwhile, also felt the effects of the recession; US spending fell 4 percent to $6.4 billion IDC said.
IDC said it expects US online ad spending to decline by about 1 percent in the fourth quarter but it expects the industry will likely see a return to actual growth sometime in the first half of next year. (Globe Staff)
