Jewish Community Housing for the Elderly said it is scheduled to break ground Monday on the Morton and Etta Shillman House, a low- and moderate-income housing development in Framingham.
Funding for the $42-million project includes $2.9 million in federal stimulus money as well as financial support from a range of other governmental agencies including MassHousing, Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development, and the town of Framingham, said Jewish Community Housing for the Elderly, or the JCHE.
On its website, JCHE describes its mission as building and managing affordable, non-sectarian housing for seniors in Greater Boston.
"Shillman House will have 150 units of independent senior housing with supportive services, including 90 apartments that will be reserved for low-income senior individuals and households, and an additional 60 units available to seniors at market rents," JCHE said in a press release.
Construction of Shillman House, which is located on the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Campus on Edmands Road in Framingham, is estimated to take 18 months, the release added.
