The cost of a gallon of gas in Massachusetts has held steady for the fourth consecutive week.

AAA Southern New England reports Monday that self-serve regular was selling for an average of $2.61 per gallon, the same as in the past three weeks and just a penny more than seven weeks ago.

Self-serve regular is 87 cents more expensive than it was at the same time last year, but two cents below the national average.

AAA found a low of $2.47 and a high of $2.89 per gallon.
