Gulf Oil L.P. acquires brand rights for the entire US

Gulf Oil L.P., a subsidiary of Framingham-based Cumberland Farms Inc., said that it has acquired all rights, title, and interest to the “Gulf” brand in the US for an undisclosed amount.

As a result, Gulf Oil L.P. said that it now plans a "significant geographic brand expansion."

Previously, the company had a licensing agreement with Chevron USA Inc. to sell Gulf branded gasoline in the Northeast, including 338 Gulf-branded gas stations in Massachusetts.

Cumberland Farms Inc. also operates a chain of nearly 600 convenience stores doing business under the Cumberland Farms nameplate.
