Many McDonald's will offer free WiFi
McDonald's Corp., the Illinois-based chain of fast-food restaurants, said that 11,500 of its roughly 14,000 US restaurants will offer free WiFi service by the end of the week.
There are about 300 McDonald's restaurant in Eastern Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island, said a spokeswoman for a cooperative of McDonald's franchisees in the region.
Customers will be able to access free WiFi at participating McDonald’s by opening their browsers, connecting to the access point, and accepting the agreement terms, McDonald's said.
Many McDonald's restaurants have offered WiFi since 2004, but customers have typically been charged $2.95 for two hours of service, a company spokeswoman said.
The announcement about WiFi was included in a press release that also discussed the chain's "Breakfast Dollar Menu," which currently includes such items as the Sausage McMuffin, the Sausage Biscuit, and the Sausage Burrito.
The release also mentioned the "Mac Snack Wrap," which seeks to capture the "classic Big Mac taste in a warm flour tortilla."
According to the release, "the launch of the Mac Snack Wrap and free WiFi now provides even greater value to consumers in New England all day, every day."
