Unidesk secures $12m in Series B funding
Unidesk, a Marlborough company focused on virtual desktop management software, said that it has secured $12 million in Series B venture capital funding.
The round was led by Series A investors Matrix Partners and North Bridge Venture Partners, Unidesk said in a press release.
Software for virtualization technology enables server computers used by businesses and other enterprises to run multiple operating systems, in effect transforming themselves into "virtual servers" that let organizations add computing power at low cost, Globe stories have noted.
Desktop virtualization, in which desktops are run on these same servers and accessed by a remote display and keyboard instead of a personal computer or a laptop, is projected by many to be the next big thing in virtualization technology, according to Unidesk.
Unidesk said it is positioning itself to be the management platform for this new kind of "server hosted" desktop.
