STD Med buys W. Bridgewater facility

STD Med Inc., a Stoughton-based manufacturer of medical devices, said it has acquired a 32,000-square-foot facility in West Bridgewater to augment its current footprint of 120,000 square feet of space.

Privately held STD Med paid about $1.4 million to buy the facility from SeraCare Life Sciences Inc. of Milford, an STD Med spokeswoman said; STD Med has a corporate head count of about 225 employees.

STD Med added in a press release: "The West Bridgewater space will be used to expand the company's cleanroom capacity to accommodate STD Med's growing base of business. STD Med anticipates an increase in its current workforce of close to 50 new jobs over the next three years. Additionally the facility will house several innovative STD Med incubated start-up companies including Spirus Medical Inc. and Cardiosolutions Inc. as well as a new venture capital firm, Makaira Venture Partners. "
