A unit of Harris Corp. with offices in Lowell has received orders totaling roughly $100 million to upgrade the public safety and the public service communications system for Miami-Dade County in Florida, the company said.
The new system will serve more than 80 agencies and 31,000 users throughout the county, including the Miami-Dade Police Department, Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department, and Miami International Airport, Florida-based Harris said in a press release.
Performing the work will be Harris's public safety and professional communications business, which has offices in Lowell and Virginia, a company spokeswoman said.
