People of size should pay extra to fly, survey says
Here's some bad news perhaps for Kevin Smith, the actor/director who claimed last month he was thrown off a plane for being too fat. (Smith is shown at right in a Globe file photo.)
According to a new survey from TripAdvisor, 74 percent of respondents think "passengers of size" should be required to purchase tickets for two seats on their flights.
TripAdvisor, a Newton-based travel-review website, has just released the results of its second annual air travel survey, which is based on feedback from more than 3,200 US respondents who answered a series of questions about their air travel preferences.
Some other survey findings: Travelers want more leg room and fewer fees. On one topic, 61 percent of respondents said they would not be willing to pay for in-flight Wi-Fi access.
