John Ryan and Karen Roberts have joined Cerulean Pharma Inc., a Cambridge biopharmaceutical company focused on nanoparticle-based drugs. A medical doctor, Ryan will serve as a senior vice president and chief medical officer.Most recently, Ryan was chief medical officer at AVEO Pharmaceuticals Inc. Roberts' new title at Cerulean is senior vice president of finance and administration. She joins the company after serving as vice president of finance and administration at Elixir Pharmaceuticals Inc.

Peter Rusch and Thomas Hofmann have been promoted at Evergreen Solar Inc., a Marlborough company that makes solar power panels. Rusch's new title is vice president of sales for Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, and Hofmann's is the director of sales for Europe. Rusch is being succeeded at his old job by Hofmann, who most recently served as the company's senior key account manager for Germany.
