Covidien road trip promotes medical device
Covidien, an Irish company with a major presence in Mansfield, is dispatching an operating room on wheels to promote the company's latest medical device; the road trip is scheduled to stop in such cities as Atlanta, Raleigh, Memphis, Miami, and Tampa, among others.
Called the " Innovation: Delivered" tour, the road show aims to introduce surgeons, residents, nurses, and hospital administrators around the country to an "advanced, single-incision laparoscopic device that reduces the four, .5-inch or smaller incisions normally associated with traditional laparoscopic surgery to just one incision in the belly button," Covidien said in a press release.
The formal name of the product is the SILS Port Multiple Instrument Access Device, and it will be show-cased in a "state-of-the-art operating room-style facility housed in an 85-foot, nearly 80,000-pound tractor-trailer that will travel around the country," Covidien said.
The photo of the tractor-trailer that appears with this post was included with Covidien's press release.
