Education Development Center Inc., a global education and health nonprofit organization, said that it will relocate its corporate headquarters from Newton to Waltham in November 2011.

Education Development Center, which refers to itself as EDC, currently has its corporate staff spread out over six building in Newton, occupying a total of 135,000 square feet, an EDC spokeswoman said; the new Waltham headquarters, where EDC will occupy 120,000 square feet of space, will be designed to EDC's specifications, allowing the nonprofit to realize efficiencies.

EDC's new headquarters in Waltham will be in CenterPoint, a 23-acre, 500,000-square-foot office/lab/R&D park. EDC's new home is owned by TC Saracen LLC, a joint venture of Saracen Properties and Trammell Crow Company Acquisition Funds.

The buildings of CenterPoint were part of a recent and extensive renovation campaign designed to capitalize on and enhance the campus-like setting, Ted Saraceno, president of Saracen Properties, said in a statement.

EDC president and chief executive Luther Luedtke said in a statement, "EDC’s new headquarters will provide our organization with the space it needs - at significant cost savings - to continue to grow, delivering the highest quality health and education programs around the country and around the world."

Richards Barry Joyce & Partners represented EDC in the transaction; the landlords were represented by Cushman & Wakefield.
