Hyundai orders more AMSC components
American Superconductor Corp., a Devens company specializing in energy technologies, said it has received a follow-on order for 30 sets of wind turbine power electronic components from Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd., or HHI, of South Korea.
HHI is looking to be a major player in power plants and wind turbines. American Superconductor's press release included a statement from HHI chairman and chief executive Keh-Sik Min, who said: “With initial orders in Korea, the United States and Pakistan, our recently launched wind turbine business is already demonstrating its global strength. We look forward to working with AMSC as we execute on our expansion plans in 2010.”
American Superconductor refers to itself as AMSC. Its press release did not include a purchase price for the follow-on order.
