Tuscon Electric signs on with EnerNOC

EnerNOC Inc. a Boston-based energy management company, said it is entering into a multi-year contract to provide Tucson Electric Power to provide it with so-called demand response services.

The agreement requires regulatory approval, EnerNOC said in a press release.

Under a demand-response agreement, EnerNOC helps utilities by providing incentives and data to utility customers to better manage their energy consumption. Persuading utility customers to cut electricity consumption during peak demand periods puts less strain on the grid and lessens the likelihood of power outages.
