Boost your hosting skills with a night at the W
The hotel and the center are close neighbors near Boston's theater district, and the W is now offering a special package for couples interested in boning up on their culinary or bartender skills. Starting at $375 a night, the couple not only gets a room at the W, but also entree to an evening seminar at the Boston Center for Adult Education, or BCAE.
Regular students often have to bunk in Spartan dorms after a tough day of classes. But that's not the case here. After an evening of learning, couples return to the luxurious confines of the W - roughly a 5-minute walk - where they can enjoy two cocktails in their room as part of the deal.
One couple who recently took advantage of the offer signed up for a three-hour BCAE seminar titled, "Tapas: Una Noche en Espana." As part of a small class, students were lectured by a BCAE uber chef on how to prepare such offerings as lobster paella, Spanish flan, and braised artichokes. Needless to say, wolfing down said dishes is an essential part of the hands-on learning experience.
"No one leaves hungry," a BCAE official said of the tapas seminar.
And for those who prefer adult refreshment to Iberian side dishes, there will be a course on "Perfectly Twisted Summer Cocktails." In this demanding academic exercise, students will learn how to concoct margaritas, punches, and daiquiris, among other drinks, the BCAE said. Here sampling is recommended over knocking back full portions.
Pairing a BCAE learning experience with a night at the W is a surefire way to "refuel your cool," the center and the hotel claim.
