Ben & Jerry's plans freebie scoops for the Hub
That's when Ben & Jerry's ice cream brand said it will dispatch one of their scoop trucks to Boston. According to a company press release, the plan is to give out "thousands of free euphoric scoops of ice cream from July 28 through August 25. The highly-coveted scoop truck will be making stops at community events, parks, offices, and beaches in the Greater Boston area."
The release added, "Ben & Jerry’s is leaving the almighty scoop in Bostonians' hands and asking them to direct the scoop truck to its next destination through Twitter @BenJerrysTruck and Facebook."
According to release, the scoop truck will be off-loading two flavors: Milk & Cookies and Boston Cream Pie. Milk & Cookies, the release notes, is Ben & Jerry's newest "fair trade flavor."
That's all very well and good. But as a man partial to adult refreshment once remarked, "If ice cream is so terrific, how come you never hear of fist-fights breaking out when an ice cream parlor gives last call?"
