General Mills Inc., the food company known for such brands as Cheerios, Nature Valley, and Betty Crocker, said it has installed solar panels at its Yoplait yogurt plant in Methuen.

yoplait.jpg"With the installation of solar panels now complete, solar energy is expected to supply nearly 80 percent of the warehouse's summertime power needs and 40 percent of its needs the rest of the year," Minnesota-based General Mills said in a press release.

The site is the company's first US facility to produce its own electricity via solar energy, the company added.
