Skyhook will 'map' SF marathon
Skyhook Wireless, a Boston company that has developed a Wi-Fi Positioning System that provides precise and reliable location results in urban areas, said it is collaborating with the San Francisco Marathon to provide a real-time map of the race route.
The marathon is scheduled for Sunday.
While Skyhook's technology lets spectators view hotspots of activity along the marathon route, the map also displays what people are saying on Twitter, and allows viewers to look at pictures through Flickr, and view Foursquare check-ins, Skyhook said in a press release.
"The map creates a unique online hub for where spectators from all over the world can experience the excitement of the marathon," Lyz Luke, media coordinator for the San Francisco Marathon, said in a statement.
