Stop & Shop golf event could raise $1m
The Stop & Shop Supermarket Co., the Quincy-based grocery chain, said it expects that its annual golf classic, being held today at four golf courses throughout Massachusetts, is projected to raise more than $1 million for local-area charities serving families and children.
This year’s Stop & Shop-Giant Family Foundation Golf Classic is being held at four Massachusetts golf courses: TPC Boston in Norton, Black Rock Country Club in Hingham, Brae Burn Country Club in West Newton, and the Golf Club of Cape Cod in East Falmouth, Stop & Shop said in a press release.
Stop & Shop shares a foundation with Giant, a sister grocery chain based in Maryland that is also owned by Stop & Shop's Dutch parent company. The golf event is tied to the Deutsche Bank Championship.
In its seven-year history, the event has raised more than $7 million for charity, Stop & Shop said.
