Sun Life provides $165k to local nonprofits, students
Sun Life Financial Inc. said its Rising Star program has awarded a total of $165,000 in scholarships and grants and scholarships to three local nonprofit organizations and students nominated by each organization.
"The Sun Life Rising Star Awards program recognizes and provides resources to high school students who have overcome the odds and remained committed to furthering their education, as well as to the nonprofit organizations that advocate on their behalf," the company said in a press release.
In the Boston area, the program awarded grants to Artists for Humanity, City Year Boston, and School on Wheels of Massachusetts. Students receiving scholarships are Mattaya Fitts of Boston Latin Academy, Rueben Bailey of Boston College High School, and Christophanie Julien of Brockton High School.
Sun Life is a Canadian financial services company. Its US headquarters are in Wellesley.
