Ameresco Inc., a Framingham-based provider of energy-efficiency and renewable-energy systems and services, said it has entered a long-term contract with the City of Greenville, S.C.
In a press release, the company said it is "beginning the installation of a series of system upgrades that will save the city an estimated $330,000 annually over a 15-year term while reducing Greenville’s carbon footprint."
Greenville and the company have entered into what is called an Energy Savings Performance Contract, which is designed to be budget neutral. In other words, the expense of upgrading such things as HVAC and lighting systems is meant to be offset by the savings and efficiencies that result from the improvements.
