Bank of America Corp. said that it has restored its online banking service to all customers after some of its customers were unable to access their accounts over the Internet this afternoon.

Bank spokeswoman Tara Burke said that the outage stemmed from an unspecified routine change to the bank's computer systems last night. Burke said the outage only affected a portion of the bank's customers.

"The majority of our customers are banking normally," she said during the outage.

But Burke declined to say how many customers were affected, or whether the Internet outage was confined to a particular part of the US.

The problem appeared at around 7 a.m. Eastern time, and was resolved about 5:15 p.m., according to Burke.

Material from the Associated Press was used in this report.
