Big Goya food donation includes Boston
Goya Foods Inc., a New Jersey food company, said today that it is donating a million pounds of food to help fight hunger in the United States and Puerto Rico.
Multiple markets, including Boston, will receive receive at least 75,000 pounds of food, Goya said.
The donation, which includes rice, dry beans, and other Goya products, will help feed more than 3 million people, Goya said.
The company also unveiled details of the Goya Gives campaign, which it is conducting in partnership with United Way. For 75 days, from March 16 to May 29, Goya Foods said it is encouraging consumers to participate in the fight against hunger and promote better nutrition through the Goya Gives social media platform.
Goya is celebrating its 75th birthday. Hence the significance of the 75-day campaign.
