Boston chamber will honor Kraft family
The Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce today announced that Robert and Myra Kraft and the Kraft family will be inducted into the Academy of Distinguished Bostonians.
The Krafts may be best known for their ownership of the New England Patriots football team. The Kraft Group also focuses on paper and packaging manufacturing and forest products distribution and real estate development. Plans call for the Krafts to be honored at the Greater Boston's annual meeting, which is scheduled for May 3.
The Greater Boston Chamber established the Academy of Distinguished Bostonians in 1983 as a way to honor some of the region's most accomplished citizens. Past inductees to the academy include Genzyme chief executive Henri Termeer, prominent lawyer Fletcher H. "Flash" Wiley, ad agency Hill Holliday cofounder Jack Connors, and Regina M. Pisa, chairman and managing partner of the law firm Goodwin Procter LLP.
In a statement, chamber president and chairman Paul Guzzi said, “Robert, Myra, and the entire Kraft family are not only extraordinary business leaders, but their philanthropic efforts have significantly impacted countless individuals and institutions in our community and around the world.”
