Gov. Patrick: Tourism on the rebound in Mass.
Massachusetts' travel and tourism industry is regaining its footing thanks to a recovering economy and a spate of Hollywood films featuring Bay State locations.
That's according to Governor Deval Patrick who spoke Wednesday at a conference organized by the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism.
Patrick said movies like "The Fighter" and "The Social Network" have renewed interest in the state. He said three more Hollywood movies are being shot here this year.
As important, he said, are the state's tourism mainstays from the Red Sox and Tanglewood to Cape Cod to Boston's historic locations.
Patrick said that toward the end of his recent trade mission he met with tourism agents in England to talk up the state. He said Massachusetts is sixth in the nation in attracting foreign tourists.
