UnitedHealthcare, a provider of health benefit plans, has entered a multi-year sponsorship agreement that will have New England Revolution players wearing the UnitedHealthcare logo on their soccer jerseys, the company and the Revolution said today.

Financial details of the sponsorship are not being disclosed.

The company and the team plan to use their partnership to "raise awareness about the benefits of healthy living and prevent chronic diseases, especially childhood obesity and diabetes," UnitedHealthcare and the Revolution said in a press release.

This will mark the first time in Revolution's 16-year history that players will wear a jersey with a corporate logo, a Revolution spokeswoman said.

Some other soccer teams have similar arrangements. The D.C. United team, for example, has a sponsorship deal with Volkswagen.
