Cambridge tops Amazon.com 'well-read' list
College towns are prime spots for readers, according to a new study released by Amazon.com.
The online giant ranked Cambridge, home to Harvard University, as the country's most well-read city. In second place was Alexandria, Va., where schools like George Washington University and Virginia Commonwealth University have satellite campuses. Next were Berkeley, Calif., and Ann Arbor, Mich., both cities with a strong campus presence.
Amazon's list of the top 20 most well-read cities of populations 100,000 or higher was announced Thursday and based on the retailer's print and digital sales per capita of books, magazines and newspapers.
