Comcast Corp., the media, entertainment, and communications company, said that 62,000 Comcast employees, their families and friends cleaned, painted, landscaped, and planted gardens at more than 600 sites nationwide as part of Comcast Cares Day.

In New England, more than 5,000 volunteers participated at 55 sites, Comcast said.

One of those sites was the Cradles to Crayons in the Brighton neighborhood of Boston. Cradles to Crayons describes itself as a nonprofit that provides, free of charge, disadvantaged children with the essential items that all kids need in order to flourish.

The photo above, provided by Comcast, was taken at Cradles to Crayons. It shows Neil Smit (center), president of Comcast Cable, along with Steve Hackley (left), the senior vice president of the Comcast Greater Boston Region, and Sandra Lopez Burke, vice president and executive director of City Year Boston.
