Saucony, the Lexington-based running-shoe brand, said it is introducing a lightweight performance shoe line that includes the Virrata, the lightest training shoe that the brand has ever made.

The Virrata is part of the new Saucony Natural Series, which is designed to position the foot for a more natural and powerful stride, the brand said. Shoes in this line also feature greater underfoot cushioning.

The series, Saucony said, was inspired by its Kinvara, “a performance training shoe with a distinct attitude.” The series includes an updated version of the Kinvara.

According to Saucony, the Virrata is a “featherweight, natural motion running shoe” that weighs in at 6.5 ounces.

The Virrata is expected at retail in February with a suggested price of $90. The Kinvara 3 is available now at select specialty retailers, and it has a suggested retail price of $100.
