Buddy Valastro --- a.k.a. the Cake Boss --- is bringing the culinary flair that has made him a reality TV star to BJ’s Wholesale Club, the Westborough-based chain that operates warehouse club stores in 15 states.
The owner of the now famous Carlo’s Bake Shop in Hoboken, N.J., Valastro has teamed up with BJ’s to create two cakes that will be available at BJ’s 195 clubs.
One of these cakes is called “Da Bomb,” and it features chocolate layers and caramel icing, BJ’s said.
Then there’s the “Badda Bloom,” a chocolate and vanilla layer cake with buttercream frosting, BJ’s said.
“Da Bomb” and “Badda Bloom” are arriving at BJ’s this week. Plans call for Valastro to augment his line with fondant cakes and cupcakes in the coming year, BJ’s said.
Valastro is star of the reality TV series, Cake Boss, which launched on TLC in 2009 and is now going into its sixth season.
Just over a year ago, BJ’s agreed to a buyout. Last fall, private equity firms Leonard Green & Partners and CVC Capital Partners completed their $2.8 billion acquisition of BJ’s.
