World Energy Solutions hires 100th employee, moves to larger quarters
World Energy Solutions Inc., a Worcester-based company that offers energy management services, said it officially marked its move to larger quarters and the hiring of its 100th employee at a ceremony Monday.
A year ago at this time, the company had just under 60 employees, a company spokesman said.
A publicly traded company, World Energy Solutions now occupies about 12,000 square feet of space on the 20th floor of 100 Front St. Previously, it occupied 7,500 square feet of space that was spread across two floors at 446 Main St., the spokesman said.
Among the attendees at Monday’s ceremony were US Representative Jim McGovern, Worcester Mayor Joseph Petty, and Worcester city manager Michael V. O’Brien, the company said in a press release.
Last year, World Energy Solutions acquired three firms as it looked to become a larger player in the energy auction space. In an earnings report dated Aug. 2, World Energy noted that first half revenue rose 69 percent over the comparable six-month period in 2011.
