Microsoft Corp. will be opening its new offices in Cambridge Thursday with an event that will feature Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick. The 113,000-square-foot site at One Cambridge Center will house sales and marketing employees previously based in Waltham, as well as a new technology center where Microsoft works closely with corporate customers on offerings customized for their businesses.

The new office is within walking distance of Microsoft’s New England Research & Development Center. This site, also known as the NERD Center, hosts advanced software development labs, and has also become a popular meeting place for Boston-area technology entrepreneurs.

The Thursday event will feature tours of the facility and demonstrations of Microsoft’s Windows 8 and Unified Communications software.
