Globe’s chief advertising officer leaving for job at MaineToday Media
The Boston Globe’s chief advertising officer is leaving to become chief executive of MaineToday Media Inc., publisher of The Portland Press Herald.
Lisa DeSisto, who is also general manager of Boston.com, is departing after 17 years at the Globe. She is scheduled to start in her new position on Nov. 19.
MaineToday Media Inc. is that state’s largest media organization. In addition to the Press Herald, the company publishes several other newspapers, including the Maine Sunday Telegram, the Kennebec Journal in Augusta, the Morning Sentinel in Waterville, and the Coastal Journal in Bath. It also runs the website MaineToday.com.
At the Globe, DeSisto was part of a team that launched the newspaper’s dual-brand digital strategy, which kept Boston.com as a free site and created Boston Globe. com, a subscriber-only site that has fewer ads and a broader range of news and information.
This year, DeSisto also oversaw the creation of Boston.com’s streaming digital music station, RadioBDC.
