Marsh & McLennan buys the Protector Group Insurance Agency of Worcester

Marsh & McLennan Agency LLC, or MMA, said Thursday that it has acquired the Protector Group Insurance Agency of Worcester for an undisclosed amount.

Founded in 1928, Protector Group is one of the largest independent agencies in New England, with about $13.6 million in annual revenues and 84 employees. The firm also has offices in Leominster and Wellesley, MMA said in a press release.

“Protector Group’s strong regional presence, top-notch leadership, and blend of property/casualty and employee benefits make it a perfect fit for MMA in New England,” Jim Blue, chief executive of Marsh & McClennan Agency’s New England region, said in a statement. “With the addition of Protector Group, we double the size of the region and further enhance our ability to offer property/casualty and employee benefit capabilities to our clients.”
