Architecture for the inn will be “reminiscent of an old manor house in the countryside of France complete with Monet-inspired gardens,” Pinehills LLC said in a press release. The inn will include a fine-dining restaurant, a wine bar and bistro, a spa, a fitness area, and accommodations for weddings, corporate meetings, and other social functions. Plans call for guest rooms and massage rooms in the spa to be equipped with fireplaces.
The expectation is that the Mirbeau Inn & Spa will open at the Pinehills in the spring of 2014. It will be Mirbeau LLC’s second resort; the original is located in New York’s Finger Lakes region.
The Pinehills occupies about 3,200 acres. Roughly a thousand acres have been allocated for the development of homes, golf courses, and other amenities; the rest of the acreage has been set aside for open space. The first resident moved in 11 years ago. There are currently 1,653 homes at the Pinehills. When full development is completed, there will be 3,052 homes, Pinehills LLC said.
In a statement, Pinehills LLC managing partner Tony Green commented on the Mirbeau.
“There’s nothing like Mirbeau in New England,” he said. “The Mirbeau Inn & Spa will be an exciting and unique regional attraction for the Pinehills and America’s Hometown. Nestled on top of a knoll, Mirbeau at the Pinehills will overlook spectacular gardens, the Village Green, and Pinehills Golf Club with the only two five-star public courses in New England designed by Nicklaus Design and Rees Jones.”
