TripAdvisor: Don’t put ‘I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus’ on your holiday jukebox

Airport saloon-keepers beware: Putting “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” on the holiday jukebox could be hazardous to your lounging bar’s good cheer.

That’s because “Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” is the Christmas carol that Boston travelers most hate to hear. Stick to Der Bingle and “White Christmas.” “White Christmas” will keep the drink orders and big tips flowing.

The survey’s biggest finding: More Americans will be traveling this year, 45 percent in 2012 versus 42 percent in 2011.

The survey of 1,300 US travelers examined the nation as a whole and also by cities. Locally, 86 percent of residents said that the economy has not affected their December holiday travel plans. Roughly a quarter of Boston-area residents are projected to be traveling for Christmas, and 21 percent said they plan to travel for New Year’s.

Boston-area resident’s favorite holiday song to listen to while traveling is “White Christmas,” and the most annoying holiday song for Boston-area residents to listen to while traveling is “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus,” TripAdvisor reported.

One down-note from the survey: Air travelers should expect longer lines at the airports because 46 percent of this year’ holiday travelers plan to fly to their destinations this year, up from 42 percent last year.

The ultimate down-note: Having to listen to “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” while standing in line at the airport.
