Johnny Rockets, a chain that celebrates hamburger cuisine, said it has opened a restaurant in Acton.
The California-based chain said it now has five restaurants in Massachusetts, including locations at Burlington Mall, Logan International Airport, Six Flags New England, and South Shore Plaza.
Worldwide, there are nearly 300 Johnny Rockets restaurants, and several cruise ships feature a Johnny Rockets on board, the chain said.
Aside from its customary hamburger fare, the Acton restaurant “features localized menu options that include a New England Squealer, Pulled Pork Pickle Sandwich, Sirloin Steak Sandwich and The County Fair—using fresh produce from area farms,” the chain said in a press release.
Here are some details from the official description of the New England Squealer: A Johnny Rocket chef takes 100-percent all-natural beef and mixes it with chopped bacon, mesquite seasoning, a touch of garlic, and a dash of Worcestershire sauce.
After grilling, the burger is topped with shredded iceberg lettuce, onions, tomato, mayonnaise, and Cabot sharp white cheddar cheese.
And that’s not all. The whole shebang is then sublimed with the chain’s “red, red sauce,” which is described as “chili ketchup with a kick.”
According to Johnny Rockets, this melange of ingredients results in “the most flavorful hamburger in New England.”
‘‘We’re thrilled to offer Acton residents and visitors delicious food and a fun dining experience that can’t help but make them smile,’’ Lloyd Sugarman, a Johnny Rockets franchise partner, said in a statement.
The press release also described the decor of the new restaurant.
“Architectural nuances include colorful neon signs, innovative graphics, two-toned red and ivory sleek vinyl upholstery, spoke lighting, and other features that add visual interest and comfort,” the release said. The look is trendy, yet timeless.”
