Oracle Corp. agrees to buy Acme Packet for $2.1b

Acme Packet Inc., a Bedford company that makes equipment to accelerate voice, video, and data delivery across networks, said Monday that it has agreed to be acquried by technology giant Oracle Corp. for $29.25 per share in cash representing a fully diluted equity value of $2.1 billion.

Net of cash this represents an enterprise value of $1.7 billion, Acme Packet said in a press release.

Oracle’s offer represents a roughly 22 percent premium from Acme Packet’s previous closing price.

The combination of California-based Oracle and Acme Packet is expected to accelerate the migration to all-IP networks by enabling secure and reliable communications from any device, across any network.

In a statement, Acme Packet chief executive Andy Ory said, “Together with Oracle, we expect to provide customers with purpose-built, innovative solutions to accelerate the deployment of all-IP networks and help deliver a superior experience across services, devices, and networks.”
