Whole Foods Market Inc. said it plans to open a 43,000-square-foot store in Westford, most likely in 2016.
The store will be located at 160 Littleton Road, in the Westford Valley Marketplace and it will employ about 200 people.
KeyPoint Partners LLC, a commercial real estate services firm based in Burlington, said it brokered the lease, adding that the space is currently occupied by a Market Basket supermarket.
Westford Valley Marketplace is a 143,000 square foot shopping center whose tenants include CVS Pharmacy, JoAnn Fabrics, Dunkin’ Donuts, Olympia Sports, Radio Shack, Starbucks, GameStop, The Paper Store, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Subway, Koko Fit Club, and others, KeyPoint Partners said.
Whole Foods operates about 350 stores nationwide, including 21 in Massachusetts. And the Texas-based chain is in the expansion mode in Massachusetts.
Whole Foods is looking to open two more Bay State locations at some point this year, one in Lynnfield, the other in Hyannis.
And in November, Whole Foods bought leases for six Johnnie’s Foodmaster grocery locations, with plans to remodel the stores and reopen them as Whole Foods some time later this year, probably in the fall.
