Several months after buying discount Internet retailer Sierra Trading Post, TJX Cos. disclosed plans to launch ecommerce websites later this year to hawk the Framingham retailer’s off-price merchandise. TJX chief executive Carol Meyrowitz said in a conference call Wednesday that the company aims to develop a T.J. Maxx website in a “controlled, small test mode in the back half of this year.”

During the call, Meyrowitz added: “We believe e-commerce will be a huge opportunity for TJX, but we will take our time to do it right and make money doing it. More importantly, we will not disappoint our customers.”

TJX bought Wyoming-based Sierra Trading Post for $200 million in December, with plans to use it to reach more consumers.

TJX on Wednesday also reported higher fourth-quarter financial results, but projected a slower pace of sales growth for the fiscal year, which ends in February 2014.
