Restoration Hardware may finally get to open its new Boston gallery this week. As crews on Tuesday perfected the lawn outside the historic building at 234 Berkeley St., an employee safeguarding the door said the store, known simply as RH, is hoping to open “in the next couple of days.”

An RH spokeswoman said the “company will be able to confirm this’”by the end of Wednesday.

RH intended to debut the glittering new store a month ago after an overcrowded launch party was shut down by police and fire officials, causing a storm of criticism on Twitter with the hashtag “restorationnightmare.” But city inspectors would not let the luxury home goods seller open for business until it resolved issues related to the building’s fire alarm, exhaust system, and a complicated elevator that is a replica of a steel-caged, glass-cab contraption from 1892.
