Simon Property is equiping some local malls with charging stations for mobile devices
Folks who like to shop till they drop may now be able to phone and text till they drop as well --- at least if they’re shopping at some of the local malls operated by the Simon Property Group.
Simon Property said it is about to install electronic charging stations at many of its New England malls, including Burlington Mall, Northshore Mall in Peabody, South Shore Plaza in Braintree, and the Mall at Chestnut Hill. The charging stations are expected to arrive in early July, the company said. The malls will have at least two stations, and some of the larger ones will have four.
“ The electronic charging stations will be easily accessible, located near soft seating areas, and will provide shoppers a convenient way to charge cell phones, tablets, laptops, and other personal electronic devices,” the company said in a press release. “The design of the charging station is in the shape of a tower and presents shoppers with two outlets and a small shelf to rest devices on while they charge.”
In a statement, Simon Group vice president Brian Jenkins said, “The electronic charging stations are yet another way we can assist shoppers who are on the go.”
