Suffolk Construction will manage $49m Suffolk University project
The building is a $49 million project with 110,000 square feet of space. Plans call for the building to feature classrooms, a student art gallery, faculty offices, and a 200-seat dining facility.
Before construction begins, Suffolk Construction said it will oversee the demolition of the existing 10-story, Metropolitan District Commission building, though several historic elements from the MDC building will be incorporated into the new facility. The new building is expected to be completed in July 2015.
The Academic Building marks Suffolk Construction’s seventh project with Suffolk University. The most recently completed project for the university was the restoration of the historic Modern Theatre and new residence hall.Chris Reidy can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
