Hood, the Lynnfield-based dairy brand, said that Jane Smith of Peabody has been selected as the grand prize winner of the Hood Blimp “Top of your Game” social media contest.
The contest, conducted on Hood’s Facebook page during late July and early August, asked folks to try to identify New England landmarks from aerial photos taken from the Hood Blimp.
Among the landmarks featured in the contest were the USS Constitution and the Boston Public Garden. To be eligible for the grand prize drawing, a contestant had to correctly identify the landmark in one of the photos that was posted on the Facebook page during the contest’s roughly four-week run. In all, there were more than 1,600 entries to this contest.
As grand prize winner, Smith will receive a prize package to enjoy Boston from above via a hotel and restaurant with views of the city, plus a year’s worth of Hood Ice Cream.
“Based on the great response to this contest – along with the tremendous amount of photos and comments shared on social media this summer – it’s clear that New Englanders love the Hood Blimp,” Hood spokesperson Sarah Barow said in a statement.
Local blimp-o-philes will be sad to learn that the Hood Blimp is scheduled to end this year’s season at the end of the month.
