The 2008 CR-V is a carryover from last year's redesign except for an eight-way power driver's seat and dual-zone climate control for the top-level EX-L. The 166-horsepower four-cylinder isn't powerful, and the thick D-pillars make visibility tougher than in the previous generation.
Handling is a strong suit of the car-based SUV, which offers a quiet and comfortable ride. Critics have assailed the CR-V for not offering third-row seating, but this is a compact SUV and doesn't need them (those critics wouldn't like sitting there anyhow). A hybrid version to compete against the Ford Escape Hybrid and Toyota Highlander Hybrid would be a welcome addition.(Honda)
