
At last, a hybrid four-door from Ford that's not an SUV. The Fusion Hybrid (and upcoming Mercury Milan Hybrid) both get redesigned for 2010, and the biggest news beyond the styling tweaks are the powertrains.
Ford claims the hybrid, which pairs a new 2.5 liter 175 horsepower four-cylinder with an unspecified electric motor, can drive up to 47 m.p.h. on batteries and will best the Camry Hybrid's 33/34 EPA rating. On the LCD instrument panel is an "efficiency tree," which "grows" digital leaves to indicate higher mileage. Drop the throttle and it withers and dies.
