After seven years, the Japan-only Cube is coming to America. It's a love-it-or-hate-it car, just like the boxy Scion xB and upcoming Kia Soul compact.

Thankfully, the puny 1.4 liter engine won't be offered. Instead, the US-spec Cube gets the Versa's 1.8 liter, 122 horsepower four-cylinder.

Nissan has been testing future electric powertrains in a Cube mule, and the company revealed an all-electric "Denki" Cube at this year's New York Auto Show, so the possibility for a limited-range plug-in hybrid is likely.
