This Cobalt replacement, seen here a day before the show at the Pavillon Dauphine in Paris, will first launch in Europe next spring, with the United States at least a year later. While it's a shining example of GM's commitment to global platforms, the Cruze - along with the hot Ford Fiesta - can't get here fast enough.
Two 1.6 liter and 1.8 liter direct-injection four-cylinders are offered, paired with an optional 6-speed automatic. The 2.0 liter turbo diesel should be considered dead in the water here.
Designed by GM's Daewoo division, the Cruze has a mean face and a sleek body that doesn't look cheap, a welcome surprise from the same Koreans who gave us the ungainly Aveo sedan and hatchback.
