General Motors displayed the production Chevrolet Volt at a packed media event in Detroit, timed for the automotive giant's 100th anniversary.

While still two years away, the Volt has stirred up the automotive industry with its claimed 40-mile range of all-electric, zero-emissions driving. Pricing and other detailed specifications remain to be announced, but be prepared for a firestorm from Toyota, Honda and the other domestics as plug-in hybrids come full swing into the next decade.
