When is a Mercedes CLK not a Mercedes? When it's shamelessly copied by BYD, a new Chinese automaker with high hopes to break ground here.

While Mercedes could thank BYD for their flattery, it's likely dismayed along with Toyota, Honda and much of GM that yet another Chinese model is ripping off their designs.

But this dollar store CLK cabriolet, with its classy winged hood ornament, might fool one of your neighbors into thinking you've ridden out the subprime mortgage crisis. The valet downtown will wonder why you didn't buy a Hyundai instead.
